Trends in the industry

INTRODUCTION

Entering the 21st century, humanity faces its greatest challenge: climate change. The energy sector is a significant contributor to greenhouse gas emissions. To address this issue, a crucial goal has been set: achieving a balance between emissions and their removal. This transformation requires substantial investment and collaboration on a global scale. Let’s explore the trends and challenges associated with this transition in the energy sector.

1- The Concept of “Net Zero Carbon”

“Net zero carbon” is the balance between greenhouse gas production and removal of greenhouse gases. We achieve this by reducing emissions and enhancing CO2 removal through natural or artificial means. The ultimate goal is to mitigate climate change impacts and maintain global climate balance.

2- Implementing “Net Zero Carbon” in the Energy Industry

Renewable Energy: The energy industry generates a large portion of greenhouse gases, about 73% of global emissions. Reducing emissions in this sector is vital to achieving “Carbon neutrality.” Renewable energy sources like wind, solar, hydro, and geothermal are expanding and widely applied. Companies invest heavily in developing carbon-free energy production technology to meet the “Carbon neutrality” goal.

Biomass Renewable Fuel: Transitioning from fossil fuels to renewable sources is challenging. One major challenge is using biomass renewable fuel. Biomass comes from organic materials like wood, grass, straw, and biowaste. Using biomass helps reduce carbon emissions and provides clean, sustainable energy for the industry.

National “Net Zero Carbon” Commitments: Major nations like Europe, the USA, Japan, and China aim for “Carbon neutrality” by 2050. They have plans and policies to support renewable energy development to cut CO2 emissions. For instance, Vietnam’s energy development plan aims for 15-20% renewable energy by 2030 and 25-30% by 2045. This highlights the growing role of renewable energy in economic and social development.

CONCLUSION

Achieving “net zero carbon” in the energy industry is a complex process requiring close cooperation between businesses, nations, and organizations. Although reaching “Carbon neutrality” may take decades, the commitment from all parties will make this goal a reality in the near future. This is a crucial step toward building a sustainable and environmentally harmonious future.
